Birth Pool FAQ

How do birth pool rentals work?

Get started by filling out the rental inquiry form. We will get back to you within 24-72 hours to confirm if there is a pool available for your due date. Once confirmed, an invoice will be sent to you for 50% of the rental fee. Once you pay your booking fee, your booking is confirmed and we can choose a delivery/pick-up date!

When should I reserve my pool?

The sooner the better, reservations can fill quickly! We recommend 3-5 months before your due date. If your due date is coming close, please reach out and I will be happy to see if there’s still any openings.

How does delivery work?

Once your reservation is confirmed, we will schedule a time with you to come drop off your pool. We will walk you through the equipment and answer any questions you may have. Delivery is included within 15km of Downtown Victoria, BC. If you live outside of the delivery radius you can either pick up the birth pool, or you can arrange delivery for an additional fee that will vary depending on location.

Do I need to buy a hose?

Your rental includes 2 x 25’ hoses. One for filling and one for emptying the pool. Please make sure the hose will reach from the tap to pool. If the distance is farther than 25’, you will need to relocate the birthing pool or purchase a longer hose.

Why are there 2 hoses?

  • One hose is plain white and labeled “CLEAN WATER”. This hose is meant for clean water / filling your pool only.
  • The other hose has coloured indicator strips and is labeled “DIRTY WATER”. This hose is for emptying the pool with the used water.

Having this system allows us to keep costs low and reduces waste in our land fills.

How long does it take to set it up/take down?

Set up is a breeze! With an electric air inflator pump, the pool will inflate in about 10 minutes. It will take approximately 45-60 minutes to fill with water (depending on your hot water tank). Emptying the pool will take about 30-45 minutes if using the electric water pump.

Where should I put my birth pool?

Choose an appropriate spot for your pool. Do not have it touching the wall. Keep the pool away from electronics. Keep the pool within 20’-25’ of the tap/toilet if you plan to use the submersible water pump and hose. If you plan to have the pool father away, you may need to purchase a longer hose for your own use.
